Balnain House, Inverness
Balnain House was built in 1726 and was used as a hospital for the Duke of Cumberland's troops after the battle of Culloden. The house was restored in 1993 in its new guise as the Home of Highland Music. Having performed over 200 shows here between 27th June and 26th August 2000 this was by far my largest project to date. These shows involved a departure from previous formats in that visitors to Balnain House paid individually to see scheduled performances. This was a great success, as shown by the publics' reaction. Click here to see some of the comments made by visitors from all over the world.
Balnain House Cellar Bar
The Highlander performed with "The Highlanders" Band during Summer 2000 on the open stage at Balnain House's Cellar Bar. This involved telling stories from Scottish history, in both words and song. Click here to find out more about "The Highlanders" Band.
Borthwick Castle
Borthwick Castle was built in 1430 by Sir William de Borthwick. The castle is steeped in history. At one time a refuge for Mary Queen of Scots and her third husband the Earl of Bothwell, and later beseiged by Cromwell's Army after the Battle of Dunbar. The castle was the perfect setting for the wedding of Suzannah and Andy Farnsworth in October 2000. The Highlander entertained guests from America on the day of the wedding.

Culloden House Hotel
Culloden House Hotel is one of the mainstays of The Highlander's Experience, and was in fact the place where it was first performed. The original Culloden Castle was built on the existing site in 1585 but destroyed by fire in 1753, and the existing Georgian mansion was completed in 1788. Nearly 200 years later, in 1975, the house was converted into a world-class hotel. Currently the Hotel is owned by Ed Cunningham Associates. The Highlander's performance at Culloden House relates the history of the house during the Jacobite Risings between 1688 and 1746.
